Our Story
Monarquía Monarca is a company from Medellín, Colombia, founded in 2022, that creates gift kits with live monarch butterfly chrysalises and ships them across Colombia. Since then, we’ve delivered more than 1,500 kits to over 50 towns and cities.
How It Started
It all began in 2022, in the garden of our home in Medellín. We planted flowers that attract butterflies, and little by little, monarchs started to visit us. Watching their life cycle up close, from chrysalis to first flight, sparked our curiosity and a wish to share the magic of this transformation with others.
That’s how Monarquía Monarca was born, with a purpose that brings together two motivations: being present for life’s meaningful moments and helping care for our ecosystems.
What We Do
Every kit includes a live chrysalis, a plant, a pot handmade by Colombian artisans and a handwritten card. Today we’re part of farewells, birthdays and new beginnings.
Guardianes de la Monarquita
We created Guardianes de la Monarquita, a community that brings learning and action together: planting milkweed, protecting pollinators and creating spaces where the monarch butterfly can keep finding a home.
